Brandin Podziemski ‘21 Sets Rookie Milestone for Warriors

PHOENIX, Ariz. – On Tuesday (Dec. 12), former St. John’s Northwestern Academies standout Brandin Podziemski (‘21) made history for his new team, the Golden State Warriors, achieving a milestone last hit in 2009 by Stephen Curry.

The Warriors fell just short of Phoenix by a 119-116 scoreline, but it wasn’t for a lack of effort from the rookie sensation. Podziemski racked up 20 points, 11 rebounds and five assists in just 29 minutes of action.

“Podz” became the first Warriors rookie to notch 20 plus points, 10 plus rebounds, and 5 or more assists in a single game since the two-time NBA MVP Stephen Curry hit the mark in the 2009-10 season.

For Podziemski, his rookie season is beginning to catch fire as the No. 19 overall pick has totaled 30 plus minutes in each of his last three games, and also notched the game-winning charge in Sunday (Dec. 17) night’s 118-114 win over the Portland Trail Blazers. The former Lancer great tallied 10 points, five assists, and five rebounds in the win.

Lancer fans will get the chance to see Podziemski return to Milwaukee on Saturday, January 13, when the Warriors come to town to take on the Bucks. View the full Warriors upcoming schedule here to find when “Podz” will be closest to you.
