Lancer Legacy in the NBA: Brandin Podziemski Shines in Sophomore Season

DELAFIELD, Wis. – St. John’s Northwestern alumnus Brandin Podziemski (’21) continues to turn heads on and off the court as he builds on a breakout rookie year with the Golden State Warriors. In just his second NBA season, Podziemski has become a rising star and a proud example of what a St. John’s Northwestern education can launch.

The 2023 NBA Draft’s No. 19 pick had a stellar rookie year and embraced a larger role this season. Starting in 33 of 64 games and improving his scoring average to 11.7 points per game. On April 3, he dazzled fans with a career-high 28 points in a high-energy win over the Lakers, going 8-for-10 from beyond the arc and nailing a sensational half-court buzzer-beater.

During the regular season, the Warriors finished with a 48-34 overall record and secured the seventh seed after beating the Memphis Grizzlies 121-116 in the play-in game.

The Warriors then battled their way past the Houston Rockets in a thrilling seven-game series. Podziemski helped push the team forward with a 26-point performance in game four, and after a valiant playoff run, he capped the season with another 28-point game in a hard-fought battle against the Timberwolves.

But Brandin’s success isn’t just measured in stats—it’s also in impact. Off the court, he launched his first signature shoe, the BP1, in collaboration with Chinese sportswear brand Rigorer, adding another layer to his growing Lancer Legacy.
