E.R.A. Students Showcase Innovation at VEX Robotics Competition
DELAFIELD, Wis. – St. John’s Northwestern recently hosted an exciting VEX Robotics competition, where students put their engineering and problem-solving skills to the test. The challenge required teams to design and build robots capable of picking up plastic rings and placing them on specific towers, emphasizing creativity, precision, and teamwork.
This competition is a key component of SJN’s specialized Engineering, Robotics, & Aviation (E.R.A.) program, which provides students with hands-on experience in mechanical design, coding, and automation. The program is designed to align with SJN’s mission of keeping “Future Aspirations in Mind” by preparing students for careers in STEM-related fields.
This year, SJN’s robotics class was divided into small teams of 2-3 students, each constructing and refining their own robot for competition. In addition to competing against one another, students had the opportunity to challenge a visiting school’s robotics team, adding a real-world competitive element to the experience.
Unfortunately, due to inclement weather, the team was unable to attend the larger VEX Robotics competition in Appleton, WI. However, their dedication, innovation, and perseverance were evident throughout their own competition, highlighting SJNA’s commitment to STEM education and hands-on learning.
