Directed by Michael Duncan, this November St. John’s Northwestern Academies will present Stephen Lang’s theatrical adaptation of Larry Smith’s book Beyond Glory: Medal of Honor Heroes in Their Own Words.
Eight veterans from World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, render firsthand accounts of the actions which resulted in each of them receiving the nation’s highest military award, the Medal of Honor. BEYOND GLORY gathers these men together in the present to look back on the defining moments of their lives and to examine the meaning of courage, duty, and, ultimately, humility. Beyond Glory also includes additional material by Kent Masterson Brown and Michael Duncan detailing Delafield’s own Alonzo Cushing’s heroic efforts at the Battle of Gettysburg during the Civil War. These stories get to the heart of what it means to serve and to sacrifice.

Stephen Lang
Stephen Lang brings the stories of eight Medal of Honor recipients to the stage in this exciting one-man show adapted from Larry Smith’s bestselling book, Beyond Glory. As a tribute to fallen soldiers, Lang has performed the show on military bases and on the floor of Congress as well as on Broadway. In the fall of 2013 filming began on a documentary Beyond Glory: Tour of Duty following Lang as he toured the show throughout the Heartland and to the front lines in Afghanistan and the Middle East. Now he brings the show and the film crew to The Flea, in order to document the play in its entirety.
