Varsity Soccer Claims Conference & Regional Crown
DELAFIELD, Wis. – On Saturday (Oct. 26), the St. John’s Northwestern Academies/Chesterton boy’s varsity soccer team claimed their second straight regional championship with a 2-0 victory over River Valley.
Earlier in the week, the Lancers powered their way through a semifinal against Columbus with a thrilling 6-0 win on Thursday (Oct. 24).
In Saturday’s final, the Lancers put in an all-around dominant performance. With their always strong defense stifling River Valley’s offense, goals from Paolo Macozzi and Florentino Téllez paved the way for a comfortable victory to seal back-to-back regional crowns.
In what is turning into yet another flagship season for SJNA/Chesterton, the Lancers also claimed the Midwest Classic Conference (MCC) title for the third straight season following a 3-1 win over Lake Country Lutheran earlier this month. Macozzi, Seamus Larson, and Hayden McDonald all scored to help push the Lancers to the MCC crown.
The victory marks SJNA’s eighth conference title overall, adding to their history of triumphs in 1971, ‘79, ‘83, ‘84, ‘92, ‘94, and the recent trio of wins in 2022, 2023, & 2024.
The historic season for the Lancers is not done yet either. They now set their sights on hosting the Sectional Semifinals vs Lodi High School on Thursday, October 31 at 3:30 p.m.
