St. John’s Northwestern Academies Debate Team Shines in Second WISDAA Meet of the Season
DELAFIELD, Wis. – The St. John’s Northwestern Academies (SJNA) Debate Team continued to make strides during its second Wisconsin Interscholastic Speech & Dramatic Arts Association (WISDAA) meet of the 2024-2025 season. Competing in two challenging rounds, the team emerged victorious in the Impromptu Round while narrowly falling short in the Prepared Round.
The debate topics, which focused on adolescent technology usage and tax credits for electric vehicles, tested the participants’ ability to analyze current issues, construct compelling arguments, and defend them with evidence.
Individual Victories: Jack Bickers, Eve Skatrud, and Carl Swanson each earned individual wins during the meet.
Top Scores: Jack Bickers led the team with an impressive 76 points in the Impromptu Round, closely followed by Eve Skatrud (75 points) and Carl Swanson (74 points).
The Lancer Debate Team will return to competition on January 28, 2025, for the next WISDAA meet, and aims to build on their current 2-2 season record.
