Our Mission
St. John’s Northwestern is proud to introduce the Champions Challenge, a multi-phase initiative dedicated to transforming Farrand Hall into a premier athletic facility. By upgrading key spaces within the building, we will enhance the student-athlete experience, attract top-tier coaching talent, and create an environment that fosters excellence in athletics. This campaign will impact current students, future recruits, and the greater SJN community for many years to come.
The Champions Challenge is divided into four strategic phases, ensuring the modernization of our athletic spaces while maximizing impact and efficiency. Each phase has been carefully planned to address the immediate and long-term needs of our student-athletes.
Foundational Upgrades
Phase One
The Coach Duey VIP Lounge
This transformed space will feature two large viewing screens, modular furniture for flexible team and family use, a podium for coaches and speeches, and a wet bar for hosting events and receptions. It will serve as a hub for team meetings, film sessions, and family gatherings, honoring the legacy of Coach Duane "Duey" Mlachnik.
Home Locker Room Renovation
Updates will include new flooring, touch-ups to enhance the aesthetic and functionality of the space, and seating to better accommodate our teams.
New Female/Away Locker Room
An unused space on the north side of the gym will be converted into a much-needed locker room to better serve female athletes and visiting teams. During the day, this space will also be utilized by our DME basketball program, which supports four teams.
Upgrading the Trainers' Room
This space will be dedicated to treating student-athletes and implementing preventative care measures, ensuring our athletes perform at their highest level while minimizing injuries.
Funding & Giving Opportunities
We invite our alumni, families, and community partners to help bring this vision to life. Naming rights, recognition opportunities, and donor appreciation events will be available for major contributors. Contributions of all levels are welcome as we work toward our campaign goal of [$X amount].
