Varsity Soccer Triumphs in Regional Finals Against Lake Country Lutheran

In a thrilling regional finals showdown, the SJNA Lancers Varsity Soccer team showcased their prowess on the field with a definitive 3-0 victory over Lake Country Lutheran on Saturday. Demonstrating their intent early in the game, the Lancers took the lead with an impressive coordination between Luis Felipe Enriquez and Jose Berumen. Enriquez’s throw-in found Berumen in a prime position, who skillfully slotted it past the keeper within the opening minutes.

The dynamic Jose Berumen wasn’t done for the day, coming back to score his second with a well-placed header, thanks to a precise assist from the team’s captain and stout defender, Alex Aguilar. Aguilar continued to display his profound impact on the game by launching a long free kick, which, to the Lancer’s advantage, resulted in an own goal by Lake Country Lutheran.

Head coach Dave Burkle couldn’t hide his pride in the team’s performance, stating, “Today, our Lancers played with heart, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to each other. I couldn’t be prouder of what they’ve accomplished up to this point. Given the talent, determination, and teamwork I’ve seen, I’m genuinely excited about our prospects in the remainder of the playoffs.”

The Lancers now ride high on momentum as they move forward in the playoffs, with fans and the community eagerly waiting to see how far this team can go.
