NEW ORLEANS, La. – From the campus of St. John’s Northwestern Academies to the National Basketball Association (NBA), Brandin Podziemski made his professional debut for the Golden State Warriors on Monday (Oct. 30) night. The 2021 graduate of St. John’s Northwestern Academies was the Warriors First Round Pick in 2023. The former Lancer made his historic debut in a 130-102 win over the New Orleans Pelicans.

Podziemski stands as the only first-round NBA Draft pick in school history. His first bucket in the NBA will remind Lancer fans of his time at the academy, as the silky guard drops a defender before charging in and finishing off the lay-in.

The rookie “Podz” garnered 23 minutes in his debut, and scored five total points. True to character, “Podz” attacked the glass and hustled to haul in eight rebounds while adding two assists.

On January 13, Podziemski will return home to Milwaukee to face the Bucks at 7 p.m. CST in a homecoming game from the Greenfield, Wisconsin native.
