Cadet Vincent Zheng of Illinois named the Class of 2022 Valedictorian at St. John’s Northwestern Academies

DELAFIELD, Wis., June 28, 2022 – Cadet Vincent Zheng was named the Class of 2022 Valedictorian at St. John’s Northwestern Academies (SJNA). Zheng started his journey at SJNA his sophomore year and was consistently one of our top, high-achieving students. Every year, he challenged himself by taking as many honors classes as he could, and always earned a minimum GPA of 4.5. Throughout his three years at the Academies, C/Zheng focused intently on academics while also contributing over 70 hours of community service, and playing on the soccer team. During his senior year, he became the president of the senior class, leading them in fundraising efforts and year-end activities. 2022 Valedictorian Vincent Zheng will attend the University of Illiniois – Urbana Champaign this fall.

Here’s what some of the SJNA community has to say about Zheng:
“Vincent was very quiet, but always engaged and wanted to learn and better himself. But even more so, he was always a great, creative and very funny writer!” – Ms. Ann Kloth, German Instructor

“In my engineering classes, he always completed his projects in an excellent fashion. It seemed that with each of his projects in design engineering he was determined to have the best project in the class. Not only were his projects always very neat and organized, but he usually had a clever twist or imaginative feature in his design that set them apart from the other class projects.” – Mr. Ed Scharf, Science Instructor

“He is one of the hardest workers, and one of the most clear and consistent writers that I have taught in over 30 years. He is responsive in the classroom with a sense of humor to keep the entire class engaged. Truly a joy to have in the classroom.” – Mr. Greg Prospero, Social Studies Instructor

“Vincent started the year on the Senior Class Executive team where he assisted in the class’ efforts to raise money. Midway through the year, he was presented with an opportunity to step into the Class President’s role. This could have been a very challenging role but he successfully navigated the transition and drove the senior’s final months with great leadership, determination, and confidence.” – Mr. Steve Matz, Dean of Advancement
